RADIO FREQUENCY SPECTRUM

Radio frequencies are grouped into what is called the Radio Frequency Spectrum.  This electromagnetic group of frequencies ranges from 3Hz to 3,000GHz per definition.  The Radio Frequency Spectrum is broken down into smaller units sometimes called bands as follows:  

• VLF or Very Low Frequency (sometimes grouped together with LF or Low Frequency and sometimes referred to as Long Wave) 
• LF or Low Frequency (sometimes grouped together with VLF or Very Low Frequency and sometimes referred to as Long Wave)
• Medium Wave
• Shortwave or High Frequency (HF for short)
• VHF or Very High Frequency
• UHF or Ultra High Frequency
• SHF or Super High Frequency
