MURS
MURS or Multi Use Radio Service is located in the VHF Band of frequencies. It is basically the VHF version of CB or Citizens Band Radio. There are 5 frequencies that were taken from the VHF Business Band set of frequencies for use in MURS. MURS is licensed by rule which means as long as you follow the FCC rules set for the service then there is no licensing requirement. MURS is set to a maximum of 2 watts of power which means that it is intended for short distance communication. MURS is allowed to use AM or Amplitude Modulation but the majority of radios used are FM or frequency Modulation.
The following frequencies are the 5 MURS frequencies:
- 151.8200MHz with 11.25KHz bandwidth
- 151.8800MHz with 11.25KHz bandwidth
- 151.9400MHz with 11.25KHz bandwidth
- 154.5700MHz with 20KHz bandwidth
- 154.6000MHz with 20KHz bandwidth
