Medium Wave (commonly referred to as MW for short) radio frequencies range from 520KHz to 2,000KHz or 2.0MHz. Often included in this is the 630m Amateur Radio Band with a frequency range of 472–479KHz with a 1 watt maximum power and in certain instances may be able to use up to 5 watts depending on location. Included in this is the AM Radio Broadcast Band of 520KHz-1,700KHz. AM refers to the Amplitude Modulation emission mode. Also included is the 160m Amateur Radio Band with a frequency range of 1.8MHz to 2.0MHz.
